Its National Park is remarkable, as it’s the biggest in Morocco and you will get a chance to contemplate the ancient Gouraud Atlas cedar trees and meet the funny Barbary monkeys. Before you reach Midelt for lunch, you will cross the stunning landscape of the Middle Atlas and its small villages on the way. After your stop in the ‘Apple of Morocco’ for lunch, you will ride through the 1907 meters high Tizi n’Talghom pass to get to the fascinating Ziz Valley. Near Errachidia, you will find the ancient Hassan Addakhil Dam, where the clear waters and the surrounding mountains meet in a contrast of colors.
The next stop in this Morocco desert excursion is the Natural Reserve of Aoufous, where you can bask in the shadow of the big palm trees and orchards. Further ahead awaits Erfoud, with its peculiar fossil handicrafts. The town also holds a date palm fair once per year, and it’s open internationally. Finally, you will change your ride in the Merzouga Sahara Desert and your camels will take you on a journey through the dunes of Erg Chebbi, from which you can admire the stunning view of the sunset over the land. You will reach your Berber Luxury camp in time for a rich dinner, after which you can enjoy some leisure time around the fire, with drums and stories. You will have a private tent fully equipped with all comforts for your night in the Sahara.
Day 2: SAHARA DESERT
Today on your Morocco desert trip to Marrakech you will explore the desert of Erg Chebbi on your private 4WD vehicle, starting from the natural caves around the area, where you will find the fossils used for some unique handicrafts. The village of Tissardmine waits ahead, known for its international movies locations. As you drive along the Paris-Dakar’s rally itinerary and through the volcanic stones of the Black Desert, you will reach the home of a Tuareg family, where you will enjoy a tea break and learn more about their traditions and everyday life.
Next on this fascinating Sahara desert tour, the traditional village of Khamlia and its Malian people, who will cheer you up with traditional music and dancing. You can also take a stroll around the village to witness the fascinating farming plots in the sand. Another amusing stop will be the Dayet Srji lake, where you can find the adorable pink flamingos. Afterwards, return to the camp and unwind, but don’t forget to reach the top of a dune in time to snap some pictures of the sunset. A traditional dinner will be served back at the camp, followed by another peaceful night around the fire. You might want to stay awake a little longer to watch the stars above the desert, before retiring in your traditional Berber private tent.
