Day 1: TO MOROCCO DESERT FROM MARRAKECH
Leaving Marrakech behind, your first stop will be the stunning Tizi n’Tichka Pass from where you can enjoy a generous overlook on the surrounding panorama. Riding through the High Atlas Mountains, your Morocco desert tour to Fes brings you to the UNESCO World Heritages sites of the Kasbahs of Telouet and Ait Benhaddou. The magnificence of these fortified villages is slowly vanishing with time, but everything that’s left will take your breath away.
The surrounding landscapes between Ait Benhaddou and the city of Ouarzazate have been featured often in American movies and shows like Game of Thrones, The Mummy, Lawrence of Arabia and Jesus of Nazareth. In Ouarzazate, you can also take part in the Atlas Studio tour, the biggest movie company in Africa. You also have the option to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt nearby. Proceeding on your Morocco desert trip, you will find the Valley of the Roses, a romantic paradise where you can find the famous rosewater products that are produced locally. The Dades Valley will welcome you for dinner, after which you can rest at your Kasbah while enjoying the panorama over the land.
Day 2: FROM THE MONKEY FINGERS TO ERG CHEBBI IN THE SAHARA DESERT
Start the morning the right way with a delicious local breakfast, then continue your Marrakech desert tour through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, stop by the curious “Monkeys’ Fingers” rock formation to snap some souvenir pictures, walk through the big date palm trees in the oasis of Todra and reach the Todra Gorge, a splendid natural work of art carved in red limestone. As you reach Erfoud, you will see the Merzouga Sahara Desert ahead.
The town of Erfoud is famous for its fossil handicrafts, which could be wonderful souvenirs. In the desert of Merzouga, you will find your private camels that will accompany you through the sands of Erg Chebbi and to your desert camp, but not before you get the chance to witness the magnificent sunset over the desert from the top of the dunes. Dinner will be ready at your Berber Luxury desert camp, where you can enjoy an amusing night by the fire, singing and dancing to your heart’s content. A peaceful overnight in your private Berber tent will conclude your second day on this Morocco desert trip.
Day 3: SAHARA DESERT TOUR
Take your private 4WD vehicle to explore Erg Chebbi and its dunes today. Your Sahara Desert excursion starts with the natural caves from which fossils are extracted and used to create beautiful handicrafts. Pay a visit to the village of Tissardmine where you can find some interesting locations featured in international movies. Driving through the Black Desert and its volcanic stones, you will stop for a delightful tea time by the home of a Tuareg family, which will be an unmissable chance to learn more about their routine and traditions.
Delving deeper into this excursion through the Morocco desert, reach the village of Khamlia to enjoy some traditional music, drums and dances. Take a leisure stroll around the village to find more about their farming system on the sand. New photo opportunities await by the Dayet Srji lake with its pink flamingos, before returning to your Sahara Desert camp to rest until the sunset, where you can hike up the nearest dune and enjoy the game of lights as the sun disappears. When you return to the camp, enjoy a traditional dinner and spend some time in front of the fire with drums and singing. After this eventful day, rest comfortably in your Berber private tent.
Day 4: FROM MOROCCO DESERT TO FES
You can’t leave the town without tasting the famous 44 spices pizza, but don’t worry: a Tuareg family will host you for lunch to make sure you have this incredible food experience. Leaving Rissani for Fes, you will cross the striking Ziz Valley with its palm trees and the massive Gorges, as you reach Midelt through the Tizi n’Talghamt Pass. A snack break in Zaida to enjoy some mint tea and refreshments is much needed before proceeding to the Berber village of Azrou in the Middle Atlas Mountains. The nearby cedar forests you will visit are the home to the friendly Berber monkeys. Your last stop in this Morocco desert tour to Fes is the Alpine village of Ifrane, a place that looks like it comes out from a European postcard. Once in Fes, your guide/driver will leave you in at your accommodation.
