Day 1: TO MOROCCO DESERT FROM MARRAKECH
Leaving Marrakech behind to start your Morocco desert tour, you will drive through the High Atlas Mountains and make a stop at the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass to bask in the wonderful panorama. Our private Sahara tour from Marrakech will then give you a glimpse into the history of Morocco by visiting the ancient Kasbahs of Telouet and Ait Benhaddou, both of which are part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You may find familiar landscapes around Ait Benhaddou, as these places have often been used as film settings for many famous movies such as Jesus of Nazareth, Lawrence of Arabia and even TV series like Game of Thrones.
Reaching Ouarzazate, you can actually take a tour through Africa’s most famous movie studio and visit some of these movie locations. You can also decide to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, with its charm of an ancient fortress. The best Sahara Desert tour will then offer you a chance to stroll through the Valley of the Roses, whose beautiful flowers are used in the production of the famous rosewater sold around the world. By evening, you will find yourself in the Dades Valley, where you will have a delicious dinner before retiring for the night in your Kasbah overlooking the surrounding landscape.
Day 2: THROUGH THE TODRA GORGE TO THE SAHARA DESERT
Enjoy a delightful local breakfast this morning before you start your drive through the impressive Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, including a stop to enjoy the view over the famous monkeys’ fingers and then proceeding to reach the oasis of Todra, for a casual stroll through the forests of date palms and olive trees. Your Sahara Desert tour from Marrakech will continue to the Todra Gorge and its triumphant red limestone rocks carved by Mother Nature. This canyon will be an unforgettable experience thanks to the natural beauty of its stones and crystal clear waters. Don’t forget to take souvenir pictures!
As you reach Erfoud, the Sahara appears on the horizon. The city is famous for its date palm fair, which takes place every year and is open internationally. Here you can also find spectacular handicrafts made from fossils found in the region. Once in the Merzouga Desert you will change rides to start your camel trekking through the incomparable landscape of Erg Chebbi. The first stop of your Morocco desert trip will be enjoying the striking panorama of the sunset from the top of a sand dune. As the colors of the sky change from orange to blue, you will reach your Berber Luxury desert camp for a luscious dinner, followed by an amusing night around the fire, with music and dancing. Your private tent equipped with all comforts will welcome you for the night.
Day 3: FROM MOROCCO DESERT TO FES
No landscape in the world can quite compare to the sight of the sunrise over the Sahara. Rise early in the morning to reach the top of a nearby dune with your camel and bask in the gentle daylight as you take some pictures to bring with you. An energizing breakfast awaits you at the camp, then you will be on the road again, the next destination in your Morocco desert excursion being Rissani. Once known as Sijilmassa, this is a very traditional Moroccan town where the current ruling dynasty of the Alaouite finds its origins.
Crossing the Ziz Valley and its blooming natural landscape, you will reach Midelt town, the “Apple of Morocco”. From here onwards, your Morocco desert tour to Fes will cross the magnificent landscape of the Middle Atlas, with its cedar forests and mountain profiles, heading to the town of Azrou, followed by Ifrane, an European-styled city built by the French elite. This will be your last stop before you reach the imperial city of Fes, where you will be escorted to your hotel for the end of the tour.
